Dorsing Construction

Custom Construction Logo Design

We helped transform a family-owned company into a brand as solid and dependable as the structures they build. Dorsing Construction is a father-son team based in the Pacific Northwest.

The foundation of their new identity is a modular logo design inspired by their initials. It was engineered to be as flexible and functional as the company itself. This project proves that even small teams deserve a brand that stands tall.

The Design Challenge

Constructing the Brand Mark

Remember the childhood joy of building block towers? Now imagine turning that feeling into the foundation of a brand identity. That is exactly what we did for Dorsing Construction. They were a local builder with big dreams but needed a visual identity that looked professional on a job site.

We ditched the typical blueprint clichés. Instead, we embraced their creative spirit and designed a lowercase geometric monogram. It is a tribute to squares and quarter circles. If you look closer, you will find a subtle “d” and “c” tucked inside. This serves as a clever nod to their family legacy.

This is not just a construction logo. It is a building block for their future. It is modular, bold, and ready to stack into any project with confidence and charm.

The Design Pivot

The Road Not Taken

The creative process is rarely a straight line. Originally, we developed a completely different concept for the brand. The initial design was a crest-style logo featuring illustrated houses and Mt. Hood to represent their local roots.

However, the father of the company felt the illustration style was “too childish” for the serious nature of their work. At the last minute, they requested a pivot to the geometric “dc” monogram we see today.

Turning Rejection into Recognition
We believed the rejected crest design was too good to throw away. We changed the name on the logo from “Dorsing” to “Boehly” and submitted it to LogoLounge, the world’s premier logo design competition.

That specific design was selected by the judges and published in LogoLounge 10. It marked the first time Graphicsbyte was ever featured in the prestigious book series. It is a perfect example of how every design concept has value, even if it doesn’t fit the specific client’s vision at the time.

Brand Collateral

Built for Business

To complete the project, we applied the new construction logo to a set of clean and functional business cards. The design focuses on clarity and hierarchy.

The front features the large lowercase “d” monogram prominently on the left with contact details balancing the composition on the right. The back focuses entirely on their core promise. It displays their slogan “For All Your Residential Needs” alongside the website URL. To tie the two sides together, we used a micro version of the monogram as an icon to anchor the web address. This layout ensures that when Dorsing Construction hands out a card, it conveys strength, precision, and modern professionalism.
