Naming
The Foundation of Your Brand Story
Great brands start with a great name.
Your name is the most used asset in your business. It appears on every email, business card, and product you create. Yet, many startups settle for names that are hard to spell, difficult to remember, or blend in with the competition.
We view naming as a strategic exercise, not a guessing game. We help you cut through the noise with a name that is short, distinct, and built to grow with you. Whether you need a descriptive name that creates clarity or an abstract name that creates intrigue, we help you find the right fit.
Naming - Karbon Kast
Truax Designs
Truax Designs needed a distinct name for their signature aluminum fusion process. The artwork featured a futuristic, sci-fi aesthetic that evoked the imagery of Han Solo frozen in carbonite. Drawing from this inspiration, we coined the name “Karbon Kast.”
This evocative title captures the industrial, frozen-in-time quality of the sculptures and gives the product line a memorable, standalone identity.

Why the Right Name Matters
A name is more than just a label; it is the handle your customers use to grasp your brand.
Create Instant Recognition: A short, distinct name sticks in the mind. It lowers the barrier to entry because customers don’t have to work hard to remember who you are.
Build Equity Faster: A unique name owns its space. It allows you to build a reputation that is yours alone, without being confused for a competitor.
Set the Tone: Your name signals your personality before a client even sees your logo. It sets the stage for the rest of your visual identity.
Series Naming
Creature Collection
The Creature Collection began as a series of biomechanical insect stickers designed to look like a scientific specimen kit. We chose a name that captured the curatorial feel of the packaging.
This flexible title allowed the project to scale effortlessly from a niche sticker pack into a broad umbrella brand that now includes diverse animal illustrations and commercial collaborations.

Our Naming Process
We take a holistic approach to design. We don’t just pick colors that look nice; we build a system that works in the real world.
01.
Discovery & Criteria
We start by defining the boundaries. We discuss your target audience, your brand personality, and the feelings you want to evoke. We also analyze competitor names to ensure we head in a different direction, avoiding clichéd trends in your industry.
02.
Ideation & Exploration
This is where we go wide. We explore different naming categories, including descriptive, evocative, abstract, and compound options. We generate dozens of ideas and filter them down through an internal creative review to find the strongest contenders.
04.
Screening & Selection
Once we have our top choices, we run them through a preliminary screening. We check for basic domain availability using a registrar tool like GoDaddy to ensure the digital real estate is accessible. We then present the strongest 3 to 5 options to you, complete with visual mockups so you can see how the name looks as a brand.
FAQ
Does this service include legal trademark registration?
No. We provide creative naming services. While we conduct preliminary checks for domain availability and obvious conflicts, we are not attorneys. We highly recommend hiring a trademark lawyer to conduct a comprehensive legal search and registration once you select your favorite name.
How many name options will I receive?
We value quality over quantity. We typically present 3 to 5 highly vetted, strategic name options. Presenting too many options often leads to decision paralysis. We focus on names that actually work for your specific goals and audience.
Do you check if the .com is available?
Yes. Part of our screening process includes checking for available URLs. However, in today’s market, a perfect “.com” is often taken or expensive. We often recommend creative URL modifications (like adding “get” or “app”) or exploring modern extensions if the exact match is unavailable.
How long does the naming process take?
Naming requires creative “soak time.” A typical project takes about 2 to 3 weeks from the initial discovery call to the final presentation. This allows enough time for brainstorming, screening, and refining the best options before you see them.
