Our Journey with the Cabinet Cures Franchise Hubspot Web Design Migration
Effective franchise web design requires a delicate balance of brand consistency and local individuality. This case study explores our early work with the Cabinet Cures franchise, a project that involved a significant website migration from WordPress to HubSpot and taught us valuable lessons about working within a developing tech ecosystem.
This look back at our HubSpot web design work from 2014–2016, in partnership with Velare Media, showcases how we pushed the limits of the platform to create custom solutions for a national brand.
01. The Initial Challenge: WordPress to HubSpot Migration
The first Cabinet Cures website was built in WordPress. However, the decision was made to migrate the entire franchise system to HubSpot to leverage its integrated marketing and CRM tools. Our primary role was to develop custom graphics and web page layouts that could be implemented across the new HubSpot web design template, ensuring brand consistency for dozens of franchisees.

02. Driving Action with Custom CTA Graphics
A key feature of the initial HubSpot template was a persistent right-hand sidebar, which we utilized for custom Call to Action (CTA) buttons. We designed dozens of unique, eye-catching graphics for these CTAs, each created to drive traffic to new pages, blog articles, or promotional offers. This approach transformed a simple sidebar into a dynamic marketing tool, a crucial element for any successful franchise web design.
03. Pushing the Limits of a Locked Platform
Working with HubSpot web design during this period presented unique challenges. The platform’s HTML and CSS were often locked, with full customization reserved for higher-tier enterprise plans. This is a common hurdle businesses face when choosing a proprietary platform over an open-source one like WordPress.
However, the development team at Velare Media found clever workarounds, allowing us to make strategic edits to the template code and push the design beyond its out-of-the-box limitations.

04. Creating Individuality Within a Template
To give each franchisee a unique local identity, we developed a system of distinct color palettes. Each franchise was assigned its own color scheme, which was applied to their version of the HubSpot template. This created a simple but effective backend language for the developers and, more importantly, made each local site feel unique while still being instantly recognizable as part of the national Cabinet Cures brand.
05. Lessons Learned: The Power of Flexibility
This project was a deep dive into the world of HubSpot web design and a valuable lesson in the importance of platform flexibility. While we were proud of the custom solutions we created, the experience reinforced our preference for open-source platforms. The ability to have complete creative control and avoid platform-imposed limitations is why we specialize in custom WordPress development today.
This early work with Cabinet Cures was a foundational experience, shaping our approach to large-scale franchise web design and solidifying our commitment to building truly custom, unrestricted digital platforms for our clients.
