The Rocky Shore Creature Collection: A New Sticker Series

The Oregon coastline is not just a destination. It is a mood. It is rugged, cold, and teeming with life hidden just beneath the surface of the Rocky Shore.

We are proud to announce the newest expansion of our Creature Collection series. This limited edition run of 300 vinyl packs features our signature biomechanical illustration style applied to the Pacific Northwest. Each pack contains seven weatherproof sea life stickers inspired by the resilient ecosystem found along the Oregon Rocky Shore.

This specific release is personal. It was born from childhood memories, a specific artistic challenge, and a deep appreciation for the ecosystems in our backyard.

Rooted in Newport

For Graphicsbyte Lead Designer Mark Boehly, the Oregon coast is home ground. He grew up visiting his grandparents in Newport, Oregon. Days were not spent sitting on the sand. They were spent hiking the beaches and exploring the tide pools.

Mark spent hours observing the marine life that survives in the harsh intertidal zones. That curiosity never faded. The Rocky Shore edition is a tribute to those early days of discovery. It blends biological accuracy with our distinct “half metal, half organic” aesthetic to create something entirely unique within the Creature Collection.

The Catalyst:

Envisioning a Future with Sea Otters

While this series was years in the making, the final push arrived in March 2024. The Elakha Alliance announced an open call for art titled Envisioning a Future with Sea Otters on the Oregon Coast. They invited artists to create work that imagined a restored ecosystem.

We accepted the challenge.

We created an 18×24-inch digital painting titled “Dinner Time.” The process began with a loose pen sketch to capture the motion. We then moved to digital painting to render the lighting and texture. The composition features a stylized sea otter diving through a vibrant kelp forest and hunting sea urchins along the Rocky Shore floor. We wanted to capture a scene full of movement and purpose.

The piece was selected and featured in press coverage and online galleries. The final framed artwork was auctioned at a public fundraiser at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club in September 2024 to support the Alliance’s mission.

From Poster to Pocket

The sea otter design for the auction became the anchor for this new Rocky Shore set. The “Dinner Time” poster was not just a contest entry. It was the momentum we needed to finalize an ecosystem we had been building for months. It served as an early debut for the characters that now make up this pack.

While the subject matter is the same, the visual execution differs between the two mediums. For the large-format poster, we traced the artwork in Illustrator to create a clean and graphic look. For the sea life stickers, we returned to the source. We preserved the rougher pen strokes and intricate grit of the original sketches. This ensures that every sticker retains the raw, biomechanical detail that defines our style.

This latest Creature Collection release features the core cast found in that original artwork, including the otter, urchins, and mussels. Fans of the poster might notice that the complex Sunflower Star is missing. That design is currently being refined to match the high-detail sticker aesthetic and will arrive in a future Phase 2 drop.

Each Phase 1 Rocky Shore pack includes seven high-quality stickers:
