The Award-Winning Designs

Here are the four logos that were selected by the international jury.

  • 01. Cup of Tea – Black: One of nine custom badge icons created for the Cup of Tea brand, representing their loose-leaf Black tea.

  • 02. Cup of Tea – Pu-Erh: Another icon from the same branding system, this one representing the unique character of Pu-Erh tea.

  • 03. Under the Wild Sky: An abstract line art logo designed for an apparel brand, capturing the spirit of the Pacific Northwest.

  • 04. Red Bull: A bold and dynamic logo concept developed for a Portland-based food cart.

Behind the Designs: The Stories of the Winners

A great logo is more than just a mark; it's a story. Here's a deeper look into the strategy and creative process behind the selected designs.

Cup of Tea

A Story in 9 Parts

We are especially grateful that two of the winning designs represent our comprehensive branding project for Cup of Tea, a loose-leaf tea house in Clackamas, Oregon. Tasked with reimagining their packaging in late 2023, we developed a system of nine unique badge icons, one for each of their tea categories.

While each icon shares a similar foundational style, a core element changes in each one, telling a subtle story of changing seasons and weather patterns over time. The two chosen icons beautifully capture this narrative, showing how a rural cottage in a meadow can give way to a bustling city, symbolizing growth and change.

Under the Wild Sky

Capturing the Spirit of the PNW

This line art logo was designed with a specific application in mind: patches for hats and beanies. Inspired by the iconic silhouette of Mt. Hood and the surrounding forests and lakes, the design is a minimalist tribute to the adventurous spirit of the Pacific Northwest.

We’re excited to announce that this design is currently being applied to apparel, which you can find in our online shop.

Red Bull

An Unused Concept with Award-Winning Potential

This dynamic bull logo was originally a concept for a Portland food truck called BBQ Box. While the client ultimately chose a different creative direction, we felt the concept was too strong to leave on the cutting room floor.

This brand mark, developed for a startup that never saw the light of day, is now a testament to the power of exploration in the design process. It will soon be available for purchase in our shop.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does it mean for a logo to be "award-winning"?

An award-winning logo is one that has been evaluated by a panel of top industry experts and recognized for its exceptional quality in creativity, strategy, and execution. You get the same level of quality and attention to detail that is recognized by the best in the industry.

Absolutely not. As you can see from our winners, we work with businesses of all sizes, from local tea houses like Cup of Tea to startups and apparel brands. Our commitment to excellence is the same for every client. Great design is about the quality of the idea, not the size of the company.

Yes. Occasionally, a fantastic design concept, like our “Red Bull” logo, is created but not used by the original client.
