Psychedelic Line Work
When Mark was a boy he grew up listing to his dad’s vinyl collection. But what really sparked a young imagination was the album artwork. It had everything you could want ranging from giant robots to strangely contorted cartoons. Films were another outlet to find inspiration. The late 80s and early 90s had many space-inspired themes to choose from. Eventually, Mark started to draw. He was self-taught and picked an art style that blends psychedelic surrealism with science fiction.
Selected Sketches
The style often features sharp edges, detailed line-work, patterns and dark shapes representing transparent domes. It’s both organized and total chaos. It wasn’t until college where the style started to really push boundaries of what’s possible. This style inspired the Creature Collection.
